Michael McCormack

Michael McCormack BSurv, Grad Dip Engineering, MBA, FAICD

Independent Non-Executive Director

Michael McCormack has been Non-Executive Director of Austal Limited since 14 September 2020.

Mick McCormack has over 36 years’ experience in the energy infrastructure sector in Australia and his career has encompassed all aspects of the sector, including commercial development, design, construction, operation and management of most of Australia’s gas pipelines and distribution systems. His experience extends to gas-fired and renewable energy power generation, gas processing, LNG and underground storage.

Mr McCormack was Managing Director and CEO of APA Group from 2005-2019 during which time the company achieved an annual compound return to unitholders of over 17% making APA one of the best performing ASX listed companies over that period. During Mr McCormack’s tenure as CEO, APA’s enterprise value grew from $1b to $24b driven by extensive and successful organic growth and M&A activities.

Prior to joining APA in 2000, Mr McCormack held various senior management roles in ASX-listed AGL Energy.

Mr McCormack is a director of Central Petroleum Limited, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra Foundation, and the Clontarf Foundation.

He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and he holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Queensland, a Graduate Diploma of Engineering from Monash University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Queensland.
